How the map is made

This is part of the market, not all of it: positions Swiftedge does not follow, and positions on other exchanges, are not on the map, so the totals are a lower bound. Liquidations that really happen are drawn live on the chart by the Liquidations indicator in Depth.

The long positions Swiftedge follows add up to about 4 % of the open interest on on-chain exchanges.

FAQ

What is a XRP liquidation heatmap?

A map of the prices where open leveraged XRP perpetual futures positions would be closed by force if price got there. Bright bands mean more to liquidate at that price. Below the price they are long positions, above the price short positions.

Is this real data?

Yes. The map is built from open positions that are public on the on-chain exchanges Hyperliquid and Lighter, each with the liquidation price the exchange reports. It is not a model from open interest and assumed leverage. It covers part of the market: positions Swiftedge does not follow, and other exchanges, are not included, so the totals are a lower bound. We check the map against real liquidations.

How is it calculated?

Every 5 minutes, the liquidation prices of all followed open positions are added up by price level: longs below the price, shorts above. A position that is closed or liquidated leaves the map. One column is kept every 15 minutes, so the map shows how the levels changed over time.

Will price move to the brightest band?

The map shows where forced orders would sit, not where price will go. Large clusters are often talked about as magnets; this page does not claim that. It is a description of open positions, not a forecast or advice.

Why is it different from CoinGlass or Hyblock?

Most liquidation heatmaps estimate the levels from open interest and an assumed leverage mix. This one uses the liquidation prices of real open positions instead, so it only covers the part of the market whose positions are public. It is free, needs no sign-up, and shows how well it lined up with real liquidations.

How often is it updated?

Every 5 minutes, also while the page is open. Each column on the map is 15 minutes, and the map covers up to the last seven days.

Can I zoom in and out?

Yes. Scroll on the map to zoom in time, hold Shift or scroll over the price axis to zoom the price, drag to move around and double-click to go back. On a phone, drag with one finger and pinch with two. The 12H, 1D, 3D and 7D buttons jump to a time range.

What do the leverage buttons do?

Each position on the map is placed on the nearest of five leverage steps (5x, 10x, 25x, 50x and 100x), from the leverage it is open with. Switch steps off to see where only the rest would be liquidated, for example only 50x and 100x, which sit closest to the price.
