Last seven days, one column per 15 minutes, 2 USD price levels. Scroll to zoom in time (Shift or the price axis zooms the price), drag to move, pinch on a phone. The bars on the right are what sits waiting right now. The leverage buttons show only the positions the model gives that leverage. Price: Binance XAUUSDT perpetual.

Does the model line up with reality? In the last 19 hours (227 five-minute windows) we compared what the model expected to be liquidated with the real liquidations on Binance, OKX and Bybit. Rank correlation: 0.35 for longs and 0.58 for shorts. Price movement alone (how far price fell or rose in the window) scores 0.17 and 0.37. A higher number means the map was better at saying when the liquidations would come. Recomputed every 5 minutes.

How the map is made

These are assumptions. Real leverage and how traders close positions are not public, so treat the bands as estimates. While spot gold is closed, the perpetual keeps trading and the map keeps updating. For liquidations that really happened, see gold liquidations today.

FAQ

What is a gold liquidation heatmap?

A map of the prices where leveraged gold perpetual futures positions would be closed by force if price got there. Bright bands mean more estimated liquidations at that price. Below the price they are long positions, above the price short positions.

Is this real data?

The inputs are real: open interest, prices and trade flow from Binance, Bybit and OKX. The levels are an estimate. Exchanges do not publish where each position would be liquidated, so the map assumes how much leverage new positions use. Every liquidation heatmap works this way; we show our assumptions and check the result against real liquidations.

How is it calculated?

When open interest rises in a 5-minute window, new positions were opened at that window's price. They are split into longs and shorts by the share of aggressive buying and selling on Binance in the same window, and spread over a fixed leverage mix (10x, 20x, 50x, 75x and 100x). Each one gets a liquidation price. When open interest falls, all open levels shrink by the same share. When price trades through a level, it is removed, because those positions were liquidated.

Will price move to the brightest band?

The map shows where forced orders would sit, not where price will go. It is a description of estimated positioning, not a forecast or advice.

Does it cover spot gold or COMEX futures?

No. Spot gold trades over the counter and COMEX futures have no public liquidation data. The map covers the USDT-margined gold perpetuals on Binance, Bybit and OKX, where leverage and liquidations are public.

How often is it updated?

Every 5 minutes, also while the page is open. Each column on the map is 15 minutes, and the map covers the last seven days.

Can I zoom in and out?

Yes. Scroll on the map to zoom in time, hold Shift or scroll over the price axis to zoom the price, drag to move around and double-click to go back. On a phone, drag with one finger and pinch with two. The 12H, 1D, 3D and 7D buttons jump to a time range.

What do the leverage buttons do?

The model gives every new position one of five leverage levels (10x, 20x, 50x, 75x or 100x). Switch levels off to see where only the rest would be liquidated, for example only 75x and 100x, which sit closest to the price.
