FAQ
What is a Solana liquidation?
When a trader uses leverage and the price moves against them, the exchange closes the position by force once the margin is used up. That forced close is a liquidation. It happens as a market order, so it pushes the price further in the same direction.
What is the difference between a long and a short liquidation?
A long liquidation closes a leveraged buyer, so the exchange sells (shown in orange). A short liquidation closes a leveraged seller, so the exchange buys (shown in cyan). Many long liquidations in a short time often show up as a fast drop with a long lower wick.
Where does the data come from?
The public liquidation feeds of Binance, OKX and Bybit for the SOL perpetual futures (USDT and coin-margined). Each liquidation is placed at the market price in the second it happened. Binance only publishes the latest liquidation per second, so in fast cascades its numbers are lower than the real total. OKX and Bybit send every liquidation.
Is this a liquidation heatmap?
This page shows liquidations that really happened. A liquidation heatmap usually means something else: an estimate of where future liquidations could sit, based on open interest and assumed leverage. That is a model, not a measurement. Ours is the Solana liquidation heatmap, checked against the liquidations on this page.
Can I see liquidations on a chart?
Yes. Open Swiftedge Depth, click + add indicator and choose Liquidations. Every forced close is drawn as a ring on the order book heatmap at the time and price it happened. It is free and needs no sign-up.
How often is this page updated?
Every minute. The numbers cover the last 24 hours and roll forward continuously.
