"Long" is the share of counted accounts (Binance top traders: share of position size) that are net long ETH perpetual futures (USDT-margined: ETHUSDT on Binance and Bybit; OKX counts all its ETH contracts). Ratio = long / short.

Who was aggressive, last 24 hours

The long/short ratio shows who holds positions. Taker volume shows who was in a hurry: on Binance, 1,594,605 ETH was bought with market orders and 1,516,419 ETH sold, a buy/sell ratio of 1.05. The same split per price level and per minute is the footprint chart and CVD in Swiftedge Depth.

How to read it

The ratio counts people, not money. Because every long has a short on the other side, a ratio above 1 means the shorts are held by fewer, larger accounts on average. Exchanges also count differently: Binance and Bybit count accounts on one contract, OKX across its ETH contracts, and Binance top traders weigh positions by size. Watch the direction more than the level, and read it next to open interest, funding and liquidations.

FAQ

What is the Ethereum long/short ratio?

The number of trader accounts holding a net long position in ETH perpetual futures divided by the number holding a net short position, as published by each exchange. A ratio of 1.5 means 60 % of the counted accounts are long and 40 % are short.

If 60 % of accounts are long, are there more longs than shorts?

No. Every futures contract has a buyer and a seller, so the total long position always equals the total short position. The ratio counts accounts, not coins: when most accounts are long, the short side is held by fewer accounts with larger positions on average.

What are top traders?

Binance publishes a separate ratio for its top traders: the 20 % of accounts with the largest margin balances. The version on this page counts their positions by size, so a large account weighs more than a small one.

Does a high long/short ratio mean the price will fall?

Not on its own. A crowded side is often discussed as fuel for liquidations if price moves against it, but the ratio describes positioning right now; it is not a forecast. Compare it with funding, open interest and liquidations before drawing conclusions.

Which exchanges are included and how often does it update?

Binance, Bybit and OKX, the three largest venues for ETH perpetual futures. The page rebuilds every 5 minutes; the exchanges publish the ratio in 5-minute to 1-hour steps, and the 30-day chart uses 4-hour steps.
